Bugcrowd partners with SEC DATACOM in cybersecurity push

Yesterday

Bugcrowd has entered a distribution agreement with SEC DATACOM to enhance cybersecurity efforts in Finland and the Baltic states.

This partnership is intended to address the region's increasing cybersecurity threats, which include attacks on crucial infrastructure and government entities, by leveraging SEC DATACOM's extensive network of IT resellers, system integrators, and managed security providers. SEC DATACOM aims to strengthen its position in IT security using the Bugcrowd Crowdsourced platform.

Earlier this year, a report identified Finland as the most effective country in protecting against cyberattacks. Juuso Järvenmäki, Country Manager for Finland & Baltics at SEC DATACOM, commented: "That doesn't mean we're winning. It means we're fighting back harder. The geopolitics of the region, including our border with Russia and the recent decision of Finland to join NATO explain why we take cybersecurity so seriously. Our defences reflect the scale of the threat, which continues to increase. Last year, Finland's National Cyber Security Centre noted a four-fold rise in ransomware attacks and a record number of DDoS attacks."

Järvenmäki emphasised the difficulties Finnish organisations face due to the global shortage of cybersecurity skills and acknowledged the need for a fresh approach to preemptive cyber defence. "Finnish organisations of all kinds are struggling with the global shortage of cybersecurity skills and there is growing recognition that if we want to stay ahead of the threat, we need a new approach. SEC DATACOM believes the Bugcrowd AI-powered crowdsourced platform gives us access to the right skills and technology that enables a systematic and proactive approach to cyber defence," he added.

He also noted Bugcrowd's commitment to local training and support as a critical reason for their selection as a strategic partner. Veera Pennala, Enterprise Account Executive at Bugcrowd, stated, "Finland has an advanced cybersecurity culture and a strong appetite for innovation, and crowdsourced security is still a relatively new concept in the region. We're excited to work with SEC DATACOM to bring a proactive security approach with our community of hackers."

Jacques Lopez, Vice President of Global Channel Sales and Strategic Alliances at Bugcrowd, described the broader capabilities of the Bugcrowd platform, beyond bug bounty programmes: "Bug bounty programmes get most of the attention, but they're only part of the story. The Bugcrowd platform supports organisations in building a comprehensive understanding of the attack surface and potential weaknesses in their security posture, as well as automating the management of remediation processes."

"Our model is built on a three-way alliance with the ethical hacker community and the channel. We believe the relationship with SEC DATACOM will be critical to bringing the benefits of crowdsourced security to a region that is in the front line of global cyber defence."

The partnership between Bugcrowd and SEC DATACOM represents a proactive step towards enhancing cybersecurity resilience in Finland and the Baltic states. By combining Bugcrowd's crowdsourced security capabilities with SEC DATACOM's established network, the collaboration aims to address the region's increasing cyber threats. With a focus on innovation and local training, this initiative underscores the importance of adapting to the evolving cybersecurity landscape, ensuring that organisations are better equipped to defend against emerging threats.
