Claire Williams to headline Infosecurity Europe 2024
Claire Williams OBE, notably one of the most successful women in recent Formula 1 history, has been announced as the keynote speaker for Day 3 of Infosecurity Europe 2024. This prestigious event, which plays a key leadership role in Europe's information security space, will take place at ExCeL London from 4-6 June 2024.
Williams, who headed the Williams Formula 1 racing team from 2013 to 2020, will speak about developing a strong team culture, leading transformational projects, and navigating significant change. She will impart her expertise on fostering a cyber-aware culture, crucial for understanding, responsibility, and resilience against continuous cyber threats.
These insights come at a crucial time considering a recent report by Infosecurity Europe revealed that 27% of security professionals highlighted the lack of interdepartmental communication, unclear accountability and risk ownership, and issues with leadership buy-in as challenges in cultivating a cyber-aware culture.
Williams, one of only two women to head a Formula 1 team in the modern era, navigated the team to two third-place finishes in the World Championship for Constructors during her tenure. Since then, she has become a source of wisdom on leading high-performing teams, proving beneficial to organisations across various sectors and sizes.
In an interview with Infosecurity Magazine's editor, Beth Maundrill, she will discuss how businesses can create a shared commitment amongst employees to defend sensitive data and digital assets. "There are so many parallels between the F1 and cybersecurity worlds," Williams noted in light of her speaking engagement. "I'll be discussing how I have personally approached managing a team of 1,000 people in the challenging world of Formula 1 for close to a decade, as well as cultural and business transformation and gender diversity."
Nicole Mills, Exhibition Director at Infosecurity Group, commented, "Claire's experiences of embedding a strong company culture within a huge workforce whilst working within a highly pressurised and stressful environment are sure to inspire and engage a cyber security audience."
Williams will occupy Keynote Stage along with other leadership experts from within the security industry. The three-day event will also explore topics like team resilience and well-being, future team development for optimal performance and growth, and the challenges faced by new entrants into the sector.
This conference presents a fantastic opportunity for Infosecurity attendees to learn from a variety of speakers, including Claire Williams OBE. They can draw on her experience of leading the Williams Formula 1 racing team and adapt her expertise to cultivate a culture of cyber resilience and preparedness within their own organisations.
