Genetec unveils Cloudlink 2210 for hybrid security

Fri, 27th Feb 2026

Genetec has launched Cloudlink 2210, a 2U rack-mount appliance positioned as a way for large organisations to expand cloud-managed physical security while keeping local storage and existing infrastructure.

The appliance targets high-density environments where video, access control and intrusion systems often run on separate hardware, and where long retention policies increase storage needs. Cloudlink 2210 supports hundreds of connected devices per unit and provides up to 240TB of local storage.

Part of the Genetec Cloudlink line, Cloudlink 2210 consolidates multiple physical security workloads in a single unit, including video management, access control and intrusion. Genetec says the approach can reduce the number of separate systems deployed across a large estate.

Hybrid model

Organisations in regulated sectors often adopt cloud-managed security through a mix of on-premises and cloud systems. Storage costs and data-residency requirements can shape how much video is retained in the cloud versus on local infrastructure. Cloudlink 2210 emphasises local retention while keeping centralised cloud management for administration and oversight.

Genetec says the appliance addresses adoption challenges such as cloud storage costs and support for devices that do not connect directly to the cloud. It also points to the need for local operation during connectivity disruptions in some enterprise environments.

The platform uses an open-architecture design that supports third-party devices, according to Genetec. Supported categories include cameras, access control systems and intrusion panels-an approach aimed at organisations with long replacement cycles and multi-vendor estates.

"Enterprises don't want to choose between innovation and operational certainty," said Christian Chenard Lemire, Product Director, Unified Solutions, Genetec Inc.

"With Cloudlink 2210, we're redefining what cloud-managed physical security looks like at scale by giving organizations the freedom to modernize on their own terms, control long-term costs, and maintain the resiliency and continuity their most critical environments demand," said Chenard Lemire.

Local resiliency

Resilience requirements often extend beyond software. Cloudlink 2210 includes RAID-protected storage and redundant system components, Genetec says, to support data protection and operating system availability.

The appliance keeps security workloads operating locally when cloud connectivity is unavailable, reflecting environments where physical security systems are expected to remain functional through network outages.

Genetec also highlights dual network interfaces for redundancy and network isolation, linking the feature to cybersecurity requirements-particularly in larger deployments where segmentation is common.

Scaling approach

Large enterprises often expand physical security in phases as sites are added, renovated, or brought under a common operating model. Genetec says Cloudlink 2210 scales by adding units as requirements grow, increasing device counts and storage capacity without redesigning infrastructure.

Centralised cloud management remains part of the model, maintaining visibility and control across deployments as additional appliances are added in a stackable rack-mount configuration.

Genetec also links the release to deployment flexibility across on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments, saying its cloud-managed appliance portfolio supports organisations that need different operating models for operational or regulatory reasons.

Channel partners and systems integrators remain a key route to market for many physical security deployments, particularly multi-site rollouts. Genetec says the model supports larger, higher-density projects within a consistent appliance framework, with installation and expansion handled by adding units as needs change.

Genetec plans to showcase Cloudlink 2210 at ISC West and expects to begin shipping globally in May 2026 through its network of accredited channel partners.
