KnowBe4 Student Edition marks one million trained in cyber safety

Tue, 28th Oct 2025

KnowBe4 has announced that its Student Edition programme has now trained one million students worldwide in cybersecurity awareness.

The KnowBe4 Student Edition, developed for students aged 16 and above, provides a range of security awareness training modules. Its content addresses topics such as phishing and credential theft, sextortion and doxing, oversharing and digital privacy, as well as financial and campus-specific scams. The programme is intended to help students develop cyber-readiness skills both for immediate online protection and for use in their future professional lives. Additionally, the training aims to safeguard both students and their educational institutions from evolving cyberattacks.

Ben Syn, Director of University and Career Education at KnowBe4, noted the impact of this milestone in the context of campus security cultures.

"The impact of reaching this incredible milestone goes beyond just training students; it contributes toward building a true security culture at high school and university campuses across the world. Our unwavering commitment to education extends beyond our industry-leading platform, because we believe in empowering everyone to be cyber-ready. With over 100 million learners educated at 70,000 organisations worldwide, KnowBe4 is dedicated to empowering individuals of all ages to stay safe online," Ben Syn, director, university and career education, KnowBe4.

On university campuses, the Student Edition initiative has been reported to foster greater engagement among students. Tina Rebello, an Information Security Analyst at Bridgewater State University, shared her observations about its effect in the classroom.

"The students were teaching each other the red flags of phishing messages and had a lot of fun picking them apart. It also brought our students together a little more, which was really exciting to see."

This feedback underlines both the collaborative and educational benefits discussed by KnowBe4. The company has observed that the Student Edition's content and format encourage peer-to-peer learning and can support the development of a collective cybersecurity awareness culture.

In line with the educational focus, KnowBe4 will be represented by Ben Syn at a panel session titled "Beyond Borders: Transforming Student Cybersecurity from Obligation to Campus Culture." The discussion is set to explore methods to improve student engagement and establish cybersecurity awareness as an enduring part of campus life, in contrast to simple compliance. Attendees are expected to receive practical strategies for transforming attitudes towards cybersecurity learning.

Child-focused education

As an addition to its student-focused offerings, KnowBe4 also provides a free Interactive Cybersecurity Activity Kit designed for children aged five to 15. The kit aims to support parents and educators in teaching basic online safety, providing activities and materials intended to make the learning process accessible and engaging for younger age groups.

KnowBe4's broader engagement

KnowBe4's wider organisational outreach includes work at more than 70,000 organisations globally, cumulatively educating over 100 million individuals. Its training and risk management platform is designed to address both human and AI agent-related vulnerabilities, combining awareness and compliance training modules with further offerings in areas such as cloud email security, real-time coaching, and crowdsourced anti-phishing tools.

The firm's approach centres on enabling users to identify, avoid, and respond to potential cybersecurity threats, recognising that informed individuals are a key element in organisational security models, particularly in education environments where both personal and institutional data is at risk.
