Logiq, a Bristol-based information and cyber security consultancy, has secured a contract with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to continue its work on the Secure by Design initiative.

The contract, in partnership with Deloitte, designates Logiq as the Secure by Design (SbD) implementation partner for the MoD's Cyber Resilience Programme (CRP) for the upcoming year. This continuation follows two-and-a-half years of previous work by the consultancy in supporting the MoD's efforts towards fortifying digital security within its critical infrastructure.

The partnership with Deloitte enhances Logiq's capabilities, bringing in the consultancy's extensive experience in managing large-scale digital transformation projects. Deloitte will contribute to the programme with expertise in process design, business change, and cyber security, thus complementing Logiq's existing knowledge and experience related to SbD.

The Secure by Design initiative was launched by the MoD in the third quarter of 2023 and has been recognised for its novel approach to security risk management. It shifts the focus from traditional accreditation processes to proactive, integrated security measures ensuring that digital systems, particularly in defence, are secure and resilient against cyber threats.

The MoD's Secure by Design portal, developed with Logiq's involvement, serves as an online platform providing valuable information to teams and industries tasked with managing cyber security risks. Additionally, Logiq has contributed to the development of the Cyber Activity and Assurance Tracker (CAAT), a tool designed to help project teams identify and address potential cyber risks within their programmes.

Robert Guegan, Principal Consultant and Partner at Logiq, stated: "Secure by Design is a pioneering and innovative way of integrating security into a complex organisation and is already changing the way UK Defence deals with cyber security in all systems."

Guegan also reflected on the project's initial success, saying, "Last year's successful launch was the result of 26 months of working with the MoD to develop the guidance, framework, portal and tooling—a collaborative delivery that was, at times, incredibly challenging. This contract win is significant as it affirms the MoD's level of trust in Logiq and its ability to get the job done. Now, with Deloitte as delivery partner, the hard work continues as Secure by Design becomes increasingly embedded in the UK Defence sector and across Government departments."

Logiq has experienced significant growth, doubling its size over the last two years. The company's service portfolio now includes cyber security, risk management, assurance services, and a range of Digital, Data and Technology offerings. The recent contract award highlights Logiq's capabilities and its status as a prominent player in the UK's cyber security sector.
