Prowler secures USD $6.5 million to enhance cloud security

Yesterday

Prowler, a company specialising in open cloud security, has secured a USD $6.5 million seed-extension round, bringing its total seed funding to USD $12.5 million.

This funding round was primarily led by Decibel VC, with participation from SNR, IrregEx, and several prominent angel investors. The additional capital will be deployed to enhance Prowler's product offering, focusing on making cloud security more open, flexible, and focused on the community.

Cloud security is increasingly prioritised within modern organisations due to the rising breaches and the complexity of evolving digital threats. Recent studies indicate that 83% of organisations view cloud security as a major concern, with 95% of IT leaders endorsing the necessity of open-source tools for robust infrastructure protection. Prowler's swift growth can be attributed to its provision of powerful, open-source tools that enable firms globally to secure their cloud environments more effectively.

Toni de la Fuente, Founder and CEO of Prowler, remarked on the development, "This funding is a significant milestone for Prowler and the open cloud security movement. We are committed to ushering in the open cloud security paradigm to make safeguarding the digital future a reality. As cloud environments become more complex, organisations need flexible solutions that evolve with the threat landscape and without vendor lock-in."

"With this investment, we will continue to push the boundaries of what's possible in cloud security, making it more accessible, adaptable and community-focused for everyone."

Recently, Prowler introduced an updated version of its platform, Prowler 5, at AWS re:Invent. This platform facilitates unified security assessments over various cloud platforms. Building on this momentum, the firm has rolled out Prowler 5.4, further broadening platform capabilities. Prowler is also poised to host its first Open Cloud Security Conference in a virtual format, gathering industry professionals and open-source advocates to deliberate on the future trajectory of cloud security.

Jon Sakoda, Partner at Decibel VC, supported Prowler's vision: "Prowler is at the forefront of open cloud security, setting the standard for transparency and programmability in an increasingly complex landscape. Our investment shows our confidence in the team's vision and ability to lead our industry towards a community-driven autonomous defence powered by advancements in AI. As threats continue to evolve, Prowler is uniquely positioned, and we're excited to support their journey."

With fresh funding, Prowler aims to expedite its growth, continue developing its platform, and fortify its open cloud security sector leadership position.
