Stephen Khan to receive cybersecurity Hall of Fame Award
Industry stalwart, Stephen Khan, is set to receive this year's esteemed Hall of Fame Award at the Infosecurity Europe event, acknowledging his significant contributions to the cybersecurity sector. The Hall of Fame acknowledges those who have made exceptional inputs to the field and played a role in shaping the cybersecurity industry.
Khan will be inducted into the Hall of Fame during Infosecurity Europe 2024, held at ExCeL London from 4-6 June. Along with this honour, Khan will deliver the much-anticipated Infosecurity Hall of Fame Annual Lecture on the Keynote Stage. His lecture is titled "Four Attributes Companies Want from a Security Leader, and Why?"
The address will delve into why substantial fees are often paid to secure the right C-suite security leader. Using insights gained from coaching security leaders and discussions with top-tier security executives and recruiters, Khan will explore the four key skills which allow security leaders to excel in their roles. Such a unique perspective will offer existing and future leaders a personal development roadmap to confront the challenges faced head-on when working at companies with complex needs.
Upon the announcement, Khan, who currently serves as the Chief Business Security Information Officer at Cognizant Technology Services, stated, "It's an honour to receive the Hall of Fame award and a reminder of my journey through cybersecurity. I've witnessed firsthand the transformative power of leadership in shaping the cybersecurity landscape and the importance of fostering a culture of security and embedding it into the DNA of organisations. It's about building a community of like-minded professionals dedicated to safeguarding our digital infrastructure."
Khan has more than 20 years of experience in the information and cybersecurity sector. His illustrious career has seen him hold senior positions at renowned firms such as HSBC, RBS, GSK, and Siemens and has significantly enhanced the security stance of global organisations across a range of sectors, including financial services, healthcare, and defence.
Throughout his career, Khan has been an unwavering advocate for knowledge sharing and mentorship, consistently dedicating himself to coaching both seasoned leaders and young professionals to attain their full potential. His commitment to the cybersecurity community extends beyond his professional endeavours, contributing to the industry and academia through his board membership of Research Institute for Sociotechnical Cybersecurity (RISCS), and as an advisory member of ISC2 UK cybersecurity council.

The Infosecurity Hall of Fame honours internationally recognised and respected information security luminaries, practitioners, and advocates. Those chosen for this honour have made clear and long-term contributions to the advancement of information security. The inductees are selected by a panel from Infosecurity Magazine and Infosecurity Europe. Previous recipients include Becky Pinkard, Jenny Radcliffe, Troy Hunt, James Lyne, Mikko Hypponnen, and Rik Ferguson, to name a few.
