BigID & Cohesity expand partnership for enhanced data security

BigID has announced an expanded partnership with Cohesity aimed at helping organisations address data risks and vulnerabilities in their backup and recovery processes. This integration facilitates enhanced visibility, context, and control over sensitive data, thereby bolstering data security and risk management on an enterprise scale.

A crucial part of this collaboration allows organisations to locate sensitive data, identify potential exposure issues related to backup and recovery, and implement the appropriate remediation controls and measures to mitigate risk. According to the press release, this initiative builds on BigID's existing integration within Cohesity's DataHawk.

BigID's role as a founding member of the Cohesity Data Security Alliance enables it to extend its industry-leading Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) to cover critical data exposure scenarios in backup and recovery processes. This comprehensive approach ensures that joint customers can rapidly identify and secure sensitive data, simplify cyber recovery compliance, and proactively manage data security and risk.

The collaboration enables organisations to discover and map sensitive data sources, even those without existing backup policies. BigID and Cohesity aim to streamline the process of identifying sensitive data, particularly those lacking proper security controls or backups, so that necessary safeguards can be implemented swiftly.

However, customers can achieve that rapid response during an attack only if they identify exposures and proactively adjust data protection policies and practices before an attack. Our joint customers can address both scenarios through Cohesity's integration with BigID's Data Security Posture Management capabilities.”

The partnership also promises to simplify cyber recovery compliance.
