Censornet launches module to simplify SMBs' cloud compliance

Fri, 23rd Aug 2024

Censornet has introduced a Posture Management module into its cloud security platform, aiming to streamline compliance and risk management for small and mid-sized businesses.

This new addition is designed to help organisations better manage their cybersecurity posture by making it easier to identify and correct misconfigurations in cloud services. By doing so, it addresses compliance requirements more efficiently.

This module automates the detection of non-compliant configurations in cloud infrastructures and SaaS applications, aiming to mitigate vulnerabilities and reduce the risk of data breaches. It offers a snapshot of potential security risks and compliance issues, enhancing an organisation's Zero Trust security framework by highlighting critical areas requiring immediate attention.

"Posture Management isn't just a helping hand for mid-market IT teams; it's an added resource," remarked Gareth Lockwood, Vice President of Product at Censornet. "By significantly reducing the time it takes to implement corrective action, we are giving precious hours back to overworked cybersecurity professionals," he added.

The module prioritises vulnerabilities according to their potential impact on the organisation, providing urgent and critical fixes directly to users via their preferred communication channels such as email, Slack, or Microsoft Teams. Automated remediation actions are taken where possible, or users are guided to external resources to complete necessary corrective measures.

Additionally, Posture Management helps organisations prepare for audits and meet various industry-wide compliance standards like Cyber Essentials and ISO27001, as well as sector-specific standards such as PCI DSS 4.0 for the financial services industry. By streamlining this process, the tool saves considerable time and effort for mid-sized enterprises, which often find compliance to be labour-intensive and challenging.

Hicham Bennani, Head of Customer Success at Censornet, explained, "Mid-sized organisations are facing increased interest in any third-party services that their infrastructure is built on. The challenge is that auditing interconnected cloud environments for compliance is hard work and time intensive. Often, they're bombarded with over 250 alerts, many of which are irrelevant."

"Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, Censornet's compliance module is personalised to each organisation, allowing them to understand the risks they care about, reducing the time they need to invest in finding out how to fix it. Importantly, it provides an audit trail that shows their organisation is in line with compliance," Bennani said.

The Posture Management module features an intuitive dashboard that enhances operational efficiency and reduces risks through automated assessments. It integrates seamlessly with other elements of Censornet's security platform, including the Cloud Application Security Broker, to provide comprehensive protection.

The dashboard offers secure data access by detecting which SaaS applications are in use and ensuring robust user security with full visibility of security configurations. When remedial actions are needed, users are instantly shown the necessary steps to correct security gaps in third-party services.

Regular scans and assessments are facilitated via API-based connectors to major cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and various SaaS services including Microsoft 365, OneDrive, and Salesforce.

With the integration of the Posture Management module, Censornet aims to simplify compliance processes, ultimately allowing cybersecurity professionals more time to focus on strategic issues rather than being bogged down by routine checks and fixes. The company believes this new tool will serve as an essential addition for mid-sized enterprises striving to maintain secure and compliant cloud environments.
