CompTIA becomes National Ambassador for NCRCG in the UK

Today

CompTIA, the Computing Technology Industry Association, has joined the National Cyber Resilience Centre Group (NCRCG) as a National Ambassador.

Founded over four decades ago in the United States, CompTIA is recognised for providing information technology certification and training, advocating for over 2,000 member companies globally. The organisation has issued over three million certifications in various disciplines including cybersecurity, networking, and cloud computing, contributing significantly to the development of a skilled technology workforce worldwide.

As a National Ambassador, CompTIA joins a prestigious Steering Group with existing members such as Aviva, CGI, Chainalysis, HP, ISC2, Mastercard, Microsoft, NatWest Group, Resilience, SANS Institute, SAS, Sir Robert McAlpine, The Very Group, and Trustify.

The NCRCG operates within the Cyber Resilience Centre (CRC) network, comprising nine regional centres across England and Wales. These centres aim to provide cyber resilience services tailored to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) locally. The inclusion of CompTIA seeks to leverage the organisation's extensive experience in workforce development to reinforce NCRCG's Cyber PATH programme, which is an advanced talent pipeline for university students.

Wayne Selk, Vice President of Cybersecurity Programmes at CompTIA and Executive Director of the CompTIA Information Sharing and Analysis Organisation (ISAO), expressed the significance of this collaboration. "Becoming an NCRCG National Ambassador is an important and significant expansion of CompTIA's commitment to robust cybersecurity practices. As cyber attacks grow in frequency, maliciousness and sophistication, our strongest defence is a collective, collaborative approach involving government, law enforcement, academia and, led by the technology industry, the private sector," he stated.

Detective Superintendent Ian Kirby, Chief Executive Officer of NCRCG, welcomed CompTIA's involvement, underscoring the importance of partnerships. "Embedding cyber resilience across the UK economy isn't something any one organisation can achieve alone which is why NCRCG and the wider CRC network is built on partnerships, including with government, policing, academia and, importantly, our National Ambassadors. We are therefore so pleased to welcome CompTIA on board so that we can extend our scope of collaboration further and, with their insights, continue to drive our mission forward at pace," he remarked.

Established in 2021, the National Cyber Resilience Centre Group (NCRCG) is a strategic collaboration between the Home Office, policing, National Ambassador partners and academia to strengthen cyber resilience across the nations small and medium-sized enterprise community. Key to NCRCGs reach are nine cyber resilience centres which operate across England and Wales to provide affordable, high-quality cyber resilience services to local organisations. These services are delivered by NCRCGs Cyber PATH student team, under the supervision of cyber security practitioners.

The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) is a voice and advocate for the $5 trillion global information technology ecosystem; and the estimated 75 million industry and tech professionals who design, implement, manage, and safeguard the technology that powers the worlds economy. Through community, education, training, certifications, advocacy, philanthropy, and market research, CompTIA is the hub for unlocking the potential of the tech industry and its workforce.
