Core to Cloud has appointed David Brown as Managing Director, putting him in charge of the company's day-to-day operations.

Brown joins the UK cybersecurity provider with more than 20 years of experience across cybersecurity, managed services and enterprise technology. He will be based at the company's Cirencester headquarters and work alongside Chief Executive Officer and Founder James Cunningham and the wider leadership team.

He will oversee operations as the business expands its services and customer base, helping to strengthen the way the company runs and support its next phase of growth.

Before joining Core to Cloud, Brown held senior leadership roles at QuoIntelligence, CounterCraft, Forescout and ZeroFOX, where he built and scaled commercial and operational teams in the UK and international markets.

The appointment comes as Core to Cloud serves more than 150 organisations across the NHS, retail, financial services, manufacturing and critical national infrastructure. Its services include Managed Detection and Response, Third-Party Cyber Risk Management, Security Assurance, Dark Web Monitoring and Threat Intelligence, and Cyber Crisis Simulation.

Growth stage

Cunningham said the business had reached a new stage in its development and that Brown would play a central role in leading its day-to-day operations.

"We've reached an important stage in Core to Cloud's growth, and David will play an important part in what comes next. We have built a strong business with a talented team, trusted customer relationships and a clear opportunity to grow. David has the experience and leadership skills to turn that opportunity into something much bigger.

He understands how to scale a business without losing sight of the people, culture and customer relationships behind its success. His commercial experience, operational discipline and knowledge of the cybersecurity market make him the right person to lead the day-to-day business through its next phase. I'm looking forward to working closely with David as we build on everything the team has achieved so far," said James Cunningham, Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Core to Cloud.

Brown's appointment gives Core to Cloud a senior executive focused on operational leadership, while Cunningham remains closely involved. The role is part of a broader effort to support further expansion while maintaining close customer relationships.

Core to Cloud operates in a crowded UK cybersecurity market that includes managed security providers, specialist consultancies and software vendors. Demand has remained strong as organisations face growing scrutiny over supply-chain risk, threat monitoring and incident preparedness.

For customers in sectors such as healthcare, finance and critical infrastructure, external cybersecurity support has become more closely tied to day-to-day operations rather than treated as a one-off procurement decision. That shift has created space for providers that combine continuous monitoring, risk assessment and crisis preparation under one commercial relationship.

Customer focus

Brown said the company's customer relationships and operating model were key factors in his decision to join.

"Core to Cloud has earned the trust of its customers by combining strong technical expertise with a genuinely personal approach. That combination stood out to me. The company understands that customers do not simply need more security products; they need a partner that knows their business, works alongside their teams and helps them achieve better outcomes.

There is already a very strong foundation in place, and my focus will be on giving the team the support and direction they need to build on the success they've already achieved. That means strengthening the way we operate, developing our services and making sure we retain the responsiveness and customer focus that makes Core to Cloud stand out from the competition," said Brown.

Core to Cloud is headquartered in Cirencester and holds ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and Cyber Essentials Plus certification. Its client base spans public and private sector organisations where cyber resilience is treated as a business-critical issue.

Brown now takes responsibility for leading the daily running of a company positioned around managed security services for organisations with ongoing operational exposure to cyber risk.
