Credas & IDGO join forces to improve UK ID accessibility
Credas Technologies and IDGO have announced a strategic partnership aimed at addressing accessibility gaps in identification for millions across the UK.
The collaboration combines Credas's identity verification technology with IDGO's PASS-accredited ID cards to offer a solution for those who face challenges obtaining traditional forms of identification. These efforts come as ID accessibility becomes a national concern, especially given reports indicating over one million driving licences reported lost or stolen each year, and an estimated 3.5 million UK voters lacking photo ID required for voting.
Vulnerable communities, including homeless individuals and ex-offenders, often confront barriers to securing identification needed for basic civic activities. The urgency grows with new age verification requirements on social media platforms. This partnership aims to assist these groups by making identification more accessible and affordable.
Credas, designated as a certified Identity Service Provider (IDSP) under the UK Government Trust Framework, will boost IDGO's verification processes while ensuring affordability and inclusivity. Credas's utilisation of trusted third-party sources such as the HALO database, Amberhill, and the electoral roll provides accurate and secure identity validation.
Dannii Hadaway, founder at IDGO, remarked: "For too long, the lack of accessible and affordable identification has excluded people from fundamental aspects of life, from employment to voting and banking. With the growing need for proof of age, especially as young people will soon need to verify both their age and identity to access social media platforms, this issue has never been more pressing."
"At IDGO, we are on a mission to change that. Partnering with Credas enables us to enhance the security and trustworthiness of our ID solutions while keeping them affordable and inclusive. Together, we are not just verifying identities; we are empowering people with the means to fully participate in society."
Tim Barnett, CEO of Credas, added: "At Credas, we believe that identity verification should be seamless, secure, and, most importantly, accessible to all. Our partnership with IDGO is a significant step towards breaking down barriers to identification, ensuring that individuals can access essential services without unnecessary hurdles. By combining our ID verification technology with IDGO's commitment to inclusivity, we are driving positive change and making reliable identification more attainable for everyone in the UK."
IDGO also plans to develop the UK's inaugural dual-sided ID and payment card, simplifying both identification and financial transactions. This initiative forms part of the company's ongoing commitment to offer a user-friendly solution that promotes financial inclusion.
