Delinea has appointed Timothy Regan as Chief Financial Officer as the identity security company surpasses USD $500 million in annual recurring revenue.

Regan joins from Dropbox, where he served as Chief Financial Officer from 2020 to 2025 and then as an adviser into early 2026. He joined Dropbox in 2016 as Chief Accounting Officer and was part of the team that led the file-sharing group through its 2018 initial public offering.

Before Dropbox, Regan was VP Finance Controller at Pandora Media and held senior finance roles at Dolby Labouratories and Ernst & Young. He brings more than two decades of finance leadership experience in technology businesses.

In the new role, Regan will lead Delinea's global finance organisation and work with the leadership team on the company's commercial and operational structure. Delinea is seeking tighter discipline in those areas as it expands.

The appointment adds public company and accounting experience to Delinea's senior ranks at a time when identity and access controls are drawing greater attention from companies adopting artificial intelligence tools and automated software agents.

Delinea sells identity security software designed to control what users, machines and AI agents can do after they gain access to systems. It says it serves more than 9,000 customers worldwide, including more than two-thirds of the Fortune 100.

Growth stage

The finance leadership change comes at a significant stage in Delinea's development. Passing USD $500 million in annual recurring revenue places the company among a relatively small group of privately held software providers to reach that level of contracted recurring sales.

For software companies, the Chief Financial Officer role often becomes more prominent as revenue scales, particularly when management is sharpening forecasting, spending controls and reporting across international operations. Regan's background suggests Delinea is seeking that kind of structure as it enters its next phase.

Art Gilliland, Chief Executive Officer at Delinea, linked the appointment to changes in the security market driven by AI use inside large organisations.

"AI is significantly expanding the identity security market," said Art Gilliland, Chief Executive Officer at Delinea.

"As agents take on more work across the enterprise, organisations count on Delinea to control what those agents are allowed to do. Tim brings deep experience in building systems for scale and operational rigor that will help us capture the opportunity in front of us."

Delinea has positioned identity as a central layer of control in enterprise security, particularly as companies give software agents and automated systems wider access to internal tools and data. Its products focus on limiting standing privileges and enforcing access rules at the point where an action is taken.

The market has become increasingly competitive as established cybersecurity groups and newer vendors push products tied to privileged access management, identity governance and cloud infrastructure controls. Delinea's customer base in large enterprises gives it a foothold in a segment where compliance, auditability and control over sensitive systems remain major buying factors.

Finance remit

Regan said Delinea's market position and customer base were central to his decision to join the company. His comments also pointed to a finance brief centred on operational discipline.

"AI is turning identity into the control point for enterprise security, and Delinea has the platform and the customer base to lead that market," said Timothy Regan, Chief Financial Officer at Delinea.

"I've spent the past decade building finance organisations that hold up under scrutiny, and I look forward to bringing that operational discipline to Delinea."

His experience at Dropbox may be particularly relevant if Delinea is entering a more demanding phase of growth, whether through further expansion, acquisitions or closer scrutiny from investors and customers. At listed technology companies, finance chiefs are often expected to build systems that support not only growth but also margin management, governance and resilience through shifts in market demand.

Regan is a certified public accountant. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Georgetown University and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.

Delinea now serves more than 9,000 customers worldwide, including more than two-thirds of the Fortune 100.
