Genetec & STid launch encrypted I/O module for EU compliance

Fri, 6th Sep 2024

Genetec has announced the addition of a new I/O module to its high-assurance access control system offerings. Developed in collaboration with STid, the new module aims to assist European customers in adhering to stringent cybersecurity compliance regulations.

The new I/O module, crafted by STid, is tailored for environments requiring high security and is suitable for governmental bodies, high-risk industries, and essential services such as Oil & Gas, Banking, Utilities, Manufacturing, and Healthcare. Genetec has committed to ensuring that the access control system, from the credential and reader to the controller and software, uses encrypted protocols and advanced cybersecurity measures. This comprehensive approach is designed to offer robust protections against the evolving landscape of cybersecurity threats.

The integration of Genetec's high-assurance access control system with the STid I/O module provides additional security for managing access points, ensuring that sensitive information is kept within protected perimeters. The system also features a compact design that facilitates easy deployment and mitigates potential risks, as it does not store any exploitable sensitive data. This measure is intended to significantly reduce the threat of breaches, enhancing the overall cybersecurity framework for organisations.

Thibaut Louvet, Senior Product Groups Director, Security Center, Genetec, said, "Our partnership with STid underscores our commitment to providing open-standard, high-assurance access control solutions that empower organisations to choose the best-fit technology for their needs. With this approach, our European customers and integrators can benefit from a flexible, scalable, and compliant solution that can help meet even the most stringent cybersecurity regulations."

Vincent Dupart, CEO of STid, also commented on the collaboration. "We have a longstanding history of collaboration with Genetec, driven by our shared goal of delivering the best and most secure experience to end-users. This innovative I/O module enriches our portfolio and addresses the requirements of transparent architectures. It complies with European regulations and enables our customers to embrace the highest security requirements without compromising customisation and scalability."

The introduction of the new I/O module from Genetec and STid marks a significant step in enhancing high-assurance access control systems for organisations across various high-risk sectors. The collaboration, which focuses on adhering to European cybersecurity regulations and providing a flexible and scalable solution, offers a robust option for entities seeking to strengthen their security posture.

This module will be available through Genetec's accredited Channel Partners in Europe from Q4 2024, enabling customers to explore its potential for improving their access control measures. The product will make its initial appearance at Security Essen, where it will be showcased at the Genetec stand 8C12.
