Logpoint acquires Muninn to bolster AI-driven cybersecurity
Logpoint has acquired Danish cybersecurity company Muninn to enhance its ability to provide advanced cybersecurity solutions. Muninn, known for its AI-driven Network Detection & Response (NDR) capabilities, will now be integrated into Logpoint's Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)-based Cyber Defense Platform.
"Geopolitical unrest, shortage of cybersecurity talent, and commoditisation of malware have made the cybersecurity landscape more complex. Organisations and MSSPs need a multi-layered approach to cybersecurity to detect and respond effectively to threats. With Muninn, we can enhance our offering," said Mikkel Drucker, Logpoint CEO. "Together, we add more value to our customers and MSSP partners by drastically improving their chances of preventing cyberattacks through the beneficial combination of AI-driven NDR, SIEM, and automation. We accelerate the innovation of AI-enabled products to advance security posture and minimise cyber risk, and we unite complementary competencies from our respective teams."
The merger aims to provide organisations and Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs) with improved visibility and Threat Detection, Investigation, and Response (TDIR) capabilities. According to reports from Gartner, integrating SIEM, NDR, and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) can help organisations respond to incidents 50 percent faster. Muninn's NDR solution will augment Logpoint's platform, offering comprehensive network visibility and enabling real-time prevention of cyberattacks. Furthermore, Logpoint solutions can integrate seamlessly with other cybersecurity products, allowing customers to use their existing EDR systems for complete environment visibility.
Jacob Frandsen, Partner at Summa Equity and the majority owner of Logpoint, noted the broader impact of the acquisition. "We invested in Logpoint to secure digital society and to support UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) number nine aimed at building a resilient infrastructure and number 16 promoting effective, accountable and transparent institutions and public access to information," he said. "Muninn supports the same SDGs as Logpoint. Together, they will amplify the impact, and it's a significant step on the route for Logpoint to becoming a European cybersecurity powerhouse, improving cyber resilience across Europe."
Logpoint has also established a dedicated Labs team, headed by CTO Christian Have, to drive security research and AI innovation projects. This team aims to simplify the navigation of cyber threats and risks for organisations and MSSPs. The integration of Muninn's AI professionals and technologies is expected to strengthen these efforts. The entire team of Muninn, including CEO and Founder Andreas Wehowsky, will join Logpoint. Wehowsky, who holds an MSc in computer science and aerospace engineering from MIT and has over 20 years of experience with AI and Machine Learning implementations, expressed enthusiasm for the merger.
"We're excited to join Logpoint and increase our ability to help mid-sized organisations become more resilient," said Wehowsky. "Many companies face challenges with limited cybersecurity staff, making it hard to meet security needs and protect their business. By teaming up with Logpoint, we can boost our impact and make it easier for security teams to defend against cyberattacks, allowing organisations to focus on what really matters. Ultimately, that's what's needed to protect the vital digital services and infrastructure we all depend on."
Logpoint stands as the largest SIEM vendor in Europe, offering additional capabilities such as automation, case management, and behavior analytics to assist organisations and MSSPs in detecting, investigating, and responding to cyber threats while ensuring compliance with various data and cybersecurity regulations. For instance, Logpoint claims to be the only European SIEM vendor with a Common Criteria EAL3+ certification, indicating its systems are robust and prepared for emerging cyber threats.
