Orange Cyberdefense boosts Swiss presence with ensec acquisition
Orange Cyberdefense has acquired 100% of Swiss cybersecurity firm ensec, expanding its operations and workforce in the Swiss market, particularly in German-speaking regions.
The acquisition will see Orange Cyberdefense's Swiss team increase by 40 cybersecurity experts from ensec, augmenting its existing 100 professionals. This bolstered team is set to provide consulting, IT security integration, managed security services, and tailored support for a diverse range of clients, spanning from small and medium-sized businesses to multinational corporations.
Focus on the Swiss market
Orange Cyberdefense has maintained a presence in Switzerland since 2022, building a reputation for delivering offensive security solutions. The unit collaborates with both public and private sector clients in Switzerland, and the addition of ensec's staff and expertise will further entrench Orange Cyberdefense's footprint across the country, particularly in German-speaking territories where ensec is based in Zurich.
The Swiss market is experiencing growth in cybersecurity needs, fuelled by heightened regulatory requirements and a demand for local expertise. With over 130 clients in sensitive sectors such as finance, retail, energy, and public sector organisations, ensec brings a portfolio that is expected to complement Orange Cyberdefense's service offering.
Expanding expertise and synergies
The acquisition is intended to leverage the complementary strengths of both companies. While ensec delivers local technical expertise and customer proximity, Orange Cyberdefense contributes its global reach and sales force, alongside its collaboration with Orange Business.
This integration aims to reinforce Orange Cyberdefense's position as a major cybersecurity provider in Switzerland and across Europe. The combined operations will cover the full threat lifecycle, supporting businesses throughout the country and beyond.
Hugues Foulon, CEO of Orange Cyberdefense, commented: "The acquisition of ensec marks a significant milestone in our European development, enabling us to better serve our customers with comprehensive, high-impact cybersecurity solutions. This move not only strengthens our market position among Germanic customers in Switzerland but also underscores our commitment to build a safer digital society for our clients and partners. We are delighted to welcome ensec's teams into the Orange Cyberdefense family."
Nicolas Lutz, CEO of Orange Cyberdefense Switzerland, stated: "We strongly believe that the combination of our respective activities in Switzerland makes sense for our customers by providing increased proximity and the ability to respond rapidly irrespective of language[1]related constraints. In addition, ensec's recognized expertise in consulting and cybersecurity integration makes for a perfect match that will build on our existing capabilities to create a dynamic Swiss cyber champion."
Mike Schuler, CEO of ensec, said: "Joining Orange Cyberdefense marks an exciting new chapter for ensec. This step enables us to scale our impact, expand our footprint, and bring even more value to our clients - while staying true to our core: deep technical expertise, a strong local presence, and trusted partnerships. With access to Orange Cyberdefense's extensive portfolio of services and products, we are ideally positioned to deliver end-to-end cybersecurity solutions tailored to the Swiss market. This evolution also opens up new opportunities for our employees to grow within a global leader and for our partners to benefit from an even broader ecosystem. Together, we will shape the future of cybersecurity in Switzerland and beyond."
Strategic alignment
The acquisition is aligned with Orange Cyberdefense's strategy for combining scalable expertise and services with strong local ties, underpinned by a focus on deep-threat intelligence. It also mirrors Orange Group's broader ambition to deliver sustainable growth and digital trust via regionally anchored expertise.
No financial details regarding the transaction have been disclosed by the companies. The integration of ensec is viewed internally as a step towards delivering a comprehensive portfolio of cybersecurity solutions to a broader Swiss customer base, supported by both local and global talent.
