Yesterday

Red Alpha Cybersecurity has announced the appointment of Mr Pang Tzer Yeu as its new Chief Information Security Officer-in-Residence to tackle Singapore's cybersecurity talent shortage.

This appointment comes as Singapore faces an estimated shortfall of nearly 4,000 cybersecurity professionals. Mr Pang, a seasoned cybersecurity leader with over two decades of experience, is set to focus on aligning training programs with industry demands to bolster Singapore's digital resilience.

Mr Pang's experience includes significant roles in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), the Ministry of Defence of Singapore (MINDEF), and Mediacorp, where he has contributed to strengthening national strategies and protecting critical infrastructure. His addition to Red Alpha aims at leveraging his deep understanding of emerging threats and the talent development gap in cybersecurity.

He explained, "The biggest challenge in cybersecurity today isn't just technology – it's talent. Cyber is evolving at an unprecedented pace, and organisations need skilled professionals who can stay abreast of developments. Red Alpha is at the forefront of cybersecurity talent development, ensuring that our trainees are ready to defend Singapore's digital future."

With a focus on non-traditional manpower resources, Red Alpha is committed to developing proactive cybersecurity professionals. The company employs a unique assessment and selection methodology to ensure a robust pipeline of talent that enhances both the quantity and quality of Singapore's cybersecurity workforce.

The issue of cybersecurity talent shortage extends globally, with many organisations finding it challenging to recruit job-ready professionals. Red Alpha's initiative seeks to address this, equipping Singaporeans with practical, industry-driven training aimed at immediate deployment in the field.

"As threats evolve, Red Alpha is meeting the demand," Mr Pang noted, highlighting the importance of hands-on training to keep up with the fast-changing landscape of cybersecurity. He aims to bridge the gap by preparing individuals with the requisite skills and fostering their professional development in collaboration with industry partners and government agencies.

Mr Yoav Korman, Managing Director of Red Alpha, remarked on the strategic value of Mr Pang's appointment: "The cybersecurity skills gap continues to be a pressing issue for organisations across Singapore. Our mission is to equip professionals with the technical expertise and hands-on experience required to protect critical systems. With Mr Pang leading our cybersecurity initiatives, we are confident in our ability to nurture industry-ready talent equipped with the right blend of technical expertise and industry insights, strengthening Singapore's cybersecurity workforce."

This move by Red Alpha is part of broader efforts to mitigate the cybersecurity talent shortage. Through its intensive training programs, which only the top 1% of applicants complete, the company aims to create a trusted pipeline of professionals capable of meeting the high demands of the sector in protecting businesses and critical infrastructure.
