Reversec joins UK council to boost cyber standards & diversity

Today

Reversec has announced its membership as a Spotlight Member of the UK Cyber Security Council, joining efforts to develop national standards and promote diversity in the UK cybersecurity sector.

The company will collaborate with the UK Cyber Security Council and its members to create, uphold, and champion cybersecurity standards, supporting the National Cyber Security Centre's strategy to ensure the UK is the safest country to live and work online.

Reversec's stated mission aligns closely with the Council's focus on both improving security standards and widening access to the field. The organisation aims to contribute to the Council's goal of increasing representation and making cybersecurity accessible to broader segments of society.

Scott Reininga, Executive Vice President at Reversec, highlighted the significance of the company's council membership. He said, "Joining the UK Cyber Security Council further highlights our commitment not only to redefining offensive security, but also to advancing security standards and creating a secure digital environment for the UK."

He added, "It's also incredibly important to us that we support and develop the next generation of cyber professionals, so we're looking forward to collaborating with other industry leaders to help shape the future of the profession."

The UK Cyber Security Council expressed enthusiasm for Reversec's addition to the group, noting shared objectives around professional standards and sector development.

Victoria Henneker, Chief Operating Officer for The UK Cyber Security Council, said, "We are delighted to welcome Reversec as our latest Spotlight Member. Reversec's aims are well aligned to those of The UK Cyber Security Council and we look forward to working in partnership with them to uphold and promote professional standards across the cyber community, helping make the UK the safest place to live and work online."

"Their mission to help create an accessible and diverse sector whilst advocating for, and supporting the next generation of, cyber professionals leads the way to an exciting and impactful partnership."

Through this membership, Reversec intends to support the Council's efforts to address current challenges in the sector, including skills shortages and establishing a clear professional framework for aspiring practitioners.

The UK Cyber Security Council was established to connect the community, provide a framework for professional pathways, and act as an independent and impartial body supporting individuals and organisations in transforming cyber security into a well-recognised and respected sector and career.

Reversec's leadership team, including Scott Reininga and Richard M, Managing Consultant, recently met with Sonja Lewis, Head of Professionalisation at the UK Cyber Security Council, to mark the beginning of this collaboration.

Reversec describes its role in the cybersecurity industry as combining research, practical solutions and knowledge sharing, building on the experience of entities such as MWR Infosecurity, F-Secure, WithSecure, Digital Assurance, nSense, and Inverse Path.

The partnership comes as cybersecurity threats to the UK remain a concern for businesses and individuals alike. By working with the Council and other stakeholders, Reversec is positioning itself to contribute to policies and initiatives that aim to close skill gaps, standardise roles, and broaden entry points into the profession.

The collaboration is expected to see Reversec participate in Council-led projects, contribute to debates on policy and professional standards, and engage directly in campaigns such as those aimed at increasing the accessibility and diversity of the cybersecurity workforce in the UK.

Both organisations have stated their intention to work closely on setting clearer frameworks and guidance for career development and professional recognition in cybersecurity, responding to the sector's demand for consistency and trusted qualifications.
