Sysdig launches Secure AI for cloud security teams

Sysdig has launched Secure AI, a new security product for cloud environments that is now generally available.

Secure AI is aimed at security teams struggling to keep up with attacks on cloud systems and with a surge in newly discovered software vulnerabilities linked to advances in artificial intelligence models. Built on Sysdig's existing cloud-native application protection platform, the product is designed to identify, prioritise and remediate risks as they emerge.

The launch comes as cyber security vendors race to add more automation to their products. Businesses are under pressure to respond faster as the time between vulnerability disclosure and exploitation continues to shrink, particularly in cloud environments where attackers can move quickly once they gain access.

Sysdig said customers can use Secure AI in three ways: AI agents that work towards security goals set by users; tools for teams working through coding assistants such as Claude, Cursor or Codex; and a generative AI assistant that explains risks and suggests remediation steps in plain language.

The company is positioning the product around a model in which staff retain oversight of critical decisions while automation handles routine investigation and response tasks. Every action is audited, Sysdig said, and the system can operate autonomously where speed matters most.

Threat window

According to Sysdig, pressure on defenders is increasing as the response window shrinks. The company cited its own threat research showing that vulnerabilities can be exploited within hours of becoming public, and said its researchers observed an AI agent moving from a single vulnerability to an internal database in under an hour.

Sysdig also pointed to its research into JADEPUFFER, which it described as the first documented ransomware case run end to end by an AI agent. It argues that such developments show how automated attacks could force defenders to rely more heavily on machine-led response.

Industry surveys suggest that shift is already under way. Sysdig cited research from the Information Systems Security Association and Omdia showing that 83% of organisations are adopting or planning to adopt AI for cyber security, even as security professionals report that the job is becoming harder.

Runtime focus

A central part of Sysdig's case for the new product is its use of runtime data, which shows what is actually running in a cloud environment at a given moment. Secure AI draws on telemetry across posture, identity and runtime, along with intelligence from Sysdig's threat research team and the open-source Falco threat detection engine, according to the company.

That matters because security teams often face long lists of theoretical vulnerabilities that may not be exploitable in practice. By focusing on live activity and reachable exposures, vendors hope to reduce false positives and help customers direct resources towards risks with a realistic path to exploitation.

Sysdig said the system is tuned to different areas of cloud defence and can learn how an organisation operates over time, including which assets are critical and what normal behaviour looks like. In practice, that means the software is intended to tailor investigations and remediation guidance to the customer's environment rather than apply a uniform set of rules.

Cost claims

Sysdig also attached productivity and cost claims to the launch, saying Secure AI can help teams conduct more than 10 times as many investigations as human analysts working alone at 88% lower cost.

It gave a specific example of a vulnerability investigation that would typically take three skilled analysts 45 minutes each at a cost of about USD $135. With Secure AI, the company said, the same task could be handled by one analyst in under 15 minutes for USD $16.

Those figures reflect a wider theme in the security market, where vendors increasingly frame AI not simply as a detection tool but as a way to offset labour shortages and cut the cost of routine analysis. Security operations centres have long struggled with alert volumes, staffing constraints and analyst burnout, and suppliers are betting that automation can ease that burden.

Loris Degioanni, Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Sysdig, said the old model of security monitoring is no longer enough. "For decades, security tools worked like cameras, recording break-ins for humans to review and act on. But attackers changed the game the moment they picked up AI - by the time you receive an alert, your data's already gone," said Degioanni.

He described the product as a move towards real-time response. "You need a response, not just a recording. Security teams need an active defence that reacts in real time to what's actually happening in their environments. That's what Sysdig Secure AI delivers, adapting to your business and moving at the speed and shape of the threats it helps defend against," he said.

Customer references were also used to underline the launch. "Adding headcount fast enough to match the speed of today's threats is a real challenge, so AI-powered security that amplifies the impact of human effort is critical," said Frederic Alex, Senior Security Engineer at a crypto exchange.

Alex added: "Sysdig Secure AI meets teams where they are. Experts set the priorities and AI agents do the heavy lifting using deep runtime data. That helps us close the gap between knowing about risk and resolving it, and it's how we stay ahead of a threat landscape that changes by the hour."
