Managed service provider WWCS has achieved Gold status in SonicWall's partner programme less than a year after formalising its relationship with the cybersecurity supplier.

The London- and Sheffield-based company began working with SonicWall in August 2025 as part of an effort to simplify its security supplier base while continuing to serve customers with more demanding security requirements.

The move gives WWCS a higher standing within SonicWall's channel structure after a relatively short period, reflecting how quickly the partnership has developed across sales and service delivery. Both companies present Gold status as a marker of closer commercial and operational ties.

WWCS said the relationship has supported its expansion across customer segments including finance, legal, property, commercial, enterprise and the public sector. It added that consolidating network management and threat protection with one supplier has helped broaden its managed security offer while keeping its operating model scalable.

Partner strategy

The development highlights a wider issue for managed service providers as they respond to growing complexity in corporate security environments. Many are under pressure to support customers across on-premise, hybrid and cloud estates while keeping delivery costs under control and limiting the number of security tools their own teams must manage.

That has increased the importance of closer ties between service providers and a smaller group of strategic vendors. For MSPs, such arrangements can reduce product overlap, simplify administration and create clearer routes for joint selling and support.

In WWCS's case, the partnership with SonicWall was framed around reducing vendor sprawl. The company chose SonicWall after reviewing suppliers and looking for a partner that could meet both its technical and commercial needs.

Jodie Rosenthal outlined how the decision was made and how the relationship has developed.

"When we evaluated vendors last summer, we were looking for a partner that could back up its promises with action, but also an organisation whose values aligned with our own. SonicWall has become a genuine extension of our team. The combination of its technology and the support we receive from the wider team has helped us simplify our vendor stack, respond to the needs of customers in highly regulated sectors and continue to grow our security offering. Achieving Gold status in less than a year is a great milestone for both teams, and we're aiming for the highest status achievable," said Jodie Rosenthal, Sales Director at WWCS.

The reference to highly regulated sectors is significant because those markets often demand tighter control over data, access and network resilience than general commercial accounts. Providers serving finance, legal and public bodies typically face greater scrutiny from customers over service delivery, incident handling and how security tools are integrated.

For an MSP of WWCS's size, partner recognition can also carry commercial weight beyond branding. Vendor status often affects access to training, internal support, joint account planning and sales engagement, all of which can influence how quickly a provider pursues new business and responds to existing customers.

Market pressure

The announcement also underlines how cybersecurity suppliers continue to rely on channel partners to reach mid-market and public sector customers in the UK. Rather than selling directly into every account, vendors often depend on MSPs and resellers to package products with advisory, implementation and ongoing managed services.

SonicWall said the partnership with WWCS had advanced through joint account activity and co-selling initiatives. That suggests the relationship has moved beyond product fulfilment into a more integrated route to market, with both sides working together on customer opportunities.

Spencer Starkey described the speed of the promotion as evidence of that cooperation.

"Achieving Gold status in less than a year is a significant milestone and reflects the strength of the partnership between SonicWall and WWCS. WWCS has shown a clear understanding of the security needs of organisations across both private and public sectors, while continuing to expand its own capabilities. Our support sets us apart from our competitors and the team is keen to build on this momentum. We look forward to seeing what we can achieve together," said Spencer Starkey, Executive Vice President, EMEA at SonicWall.

The outcome leaves WWCS in a stronger position within SonicWall's partner ecosystem as it continues to build its presence in regulated and mainstream business markets across the UK.
