Yubico adds self-service portal for YubiKey at scale

Fri, 30th Jan 2026

Yubico has expanded its YubiKey as a Service offering with self-service ordering for employees and a redesigned customer portal aimed at large-scale deployments of hardware passkeys.

The company said the update adds an option for organisations to distribute YubiKeys through an end-user ordering process rather than a centrally managed IT workflow. It also said it has introduced a new Customer Portal that acts as the main administration interface for inventory and fulfilment.

Yubico sells YubiKeys, which organisations use as hardware security keys for authentication. The company positions the devices as phishing-resistant passkeys as employers assess passwordless login options and stronger authentication for staff, contractors and partners.

"As the cyber threat landscape continues evolving with AI-driven attacks, organisations need to get phishing-resistant passkeys into employees' hands quickly and without IT friction," said Albert Biketi, Chief Product And Technology Officer, Yubico.

"By expanding YubiKey as a Service with our new Self-Service Ordering capability and Customer Portal interface, we're providing our customers the option to let end users securely self-service order YubiKeys on-demand - eliminating the friction of deploying YubiKeys at scale with unmatched flexibility and cost efficiency," said Biketi.

"This shift reduces the logistical burden on IT departments and ensures that employees, contractors, and partners receive enterprise-grade security in YubiKeys exactly when and where they need them," said Biketi.

Self-service ordering

Yubico said the new self-service ordering feature lets IT administrators send email invitations to individuals or groups. Users then choose a preferred YubiKey form factor and enter shipping details through a custom-branded web page, according to the company.

The company said the approach changes how organisations capture address information and create orders. Yubico said the goal is to reduce internal support workload associated with issuing security keys to a distributed workforce.

Yubico said the self-service process includes model selection based on device requirements. It also includes direct shipping to home or office addresses across the US, Canada and Europe, according to the company.

The company said organisations can customise both the invitation email and the ordering portal. It said customers can align the experience with corporate branding so users recognise the request.

Customer portal

Alongside self-service ordering, Yubico has launched a new Customer Portal that it said replaces the former YubiEnterprise Console. The company said it makes the portal available automatically with YubiKey as a Service.

Yubico said the portal provides a single workspace for IT teams to manage deployments. It said administrators can view deployment status, inventory levels and user activation information.

Yubico said the portal includes an inventory overview. The company said it distinguishes between total inventory and keys that are currently shippable. It said the portal also provides an overview of purchased licences and keys.

The company said administrators can manage users, assign roles and track shipment requests through a "Deliver" section. It also said it has reorganised the interface into separate sections for purchases, delivery and self-service ordering.

Service-only features

Yubico said the self-service ordering feature and the new Customer Portal are available only through YubiKey as a Service. The company did not disclose pricing changes or service tiers in its announcement.

YubiKey as a Service forms part of Yubico's broader product range for organisations that want to procure and distribute hardware security keys through a managed subscription model. The new workflow emphasises end-user participation in ordering and shipping details while keeping administrative oversight with IT teams through the portal.

Yubico said it has operated since 2007 and has worked on authentication standards including FIDO2, WebAuthn and FIDO U2F. The company is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm.

The company said it expects the updated ordering and management tools to be used for global deployments where organisations need visibility into stock, shipment requests and activation across multiple locations.
