Apricorn boosts storage in Aegis Secure Key 3NX line

Today

Apricorn has announced an increase in capacity for its Aegis Secure Key 3NX line, now offering devices with storage ranging from 4GB to 512GB.

The company, known for its software-free, hardware-encrypted USB drives, stated that the flash drive devices are equipped with both A and C connectors, enabling data encryption from smartphones, laptops, docks, and tablets. The Aegis Secure Key NX line is designed for secure data storage and usability in regulated sectors.

These products are FIPS 140-2 Level 3 validated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, making them compliant with major data security regulations such as HIPAA, FERPA, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and GDPR. This certification allows the devices to be used in industries like healthcare, finance, defence, and legal, both nationally and globally.

"In today's increasingly complex regulatory landscape, organisations are facing mounting pressure to protect sensitive data, especially with a growing mobile workforce," said Kurt Markley, Managing Director, Americas at Apricorn. "The expanded capacity of our Aegis Secure Key series provides a robust solution for safeguarding this information, enabling compliance with stringent regulations while encrypting critical data on the move. This ensures data privacy whether employees are in the office or working remotely."

The Aegis Secure Key NX series comes with AegisWare, Apricorn's proprietary firmware. This firmware is designed to address evolving security threats, meeting the needs of highly regulated sectors such as government, defence, finance, manufacturing, and healthcare. The devices' components are shielded by hardened epoxy to prevent physical tampering, and the locked-down firmware offers immunity to malware attacks.

The 3NX series distinguishes itself as the sole hardware-encrypted device capable of toggling between Fixed Disk and Removable Media modes, protected under U.S. Patent No. 10,338,840. Additional security features include hardware-based encryption that operates in real-time, a software-free setup, and compatibility across multiple operating systems.

The devices boast several security enhancements such as an on-board wear-resistant keypad for authentication, separate administrator and user modes, and robust physical design with IP-68 validation against water and dust intrusion. Furthermore, the device employs a rugged milled aluminium alloy construction with breakaway fasteners and epoxy threadlock.

Apricorn continues to innovate in secure storage solutions, catering to organisations requiring reliable data protection amidst a backdrop of stringent global data security regulations.
