Axians UK has launched an Enterprise Architecture as a Service offering intended to align business strategy with technical delivery.

The service is aimed at organisations that struggle to connect leadership goals with technology decisions. It is designed to replace project-by-project choices with a single architecture framework that can be used across a business.

Enterprise architecture is often used to set standards for how systems are designed, integrated and managed. Axians UK is positioning the service as an alternative to hiring a full-time enterprise architect, which can be costly and difficult.

Many businesses face a disconnect between executive priorities and the systems built by technical teams, according to Axians UK. It argues this can lead to overlapping tools, complex environments and higher long-term operating costs.

Service model

Under the model, customers can draw on external architecture expertise as needed rather than adding a permanent senior hire. The service also provides governance for technology decisions across a company's infrastructure.

Axians UK argues that a formal architecture layer can help companies avoid fragmented technology adoption and support consistency across operations in different locations.

Ian Parker, Enterprise Architect, Axians UK, said: "Without a professional architect, every technical solution looks different. It's like building a street where every house uses different foundations and materials; eventually, it becomes impossible to manage or maintain. Our service introduces a standardised design. Whether your network is in London, New York or Singapore, the architecture remains consistent, scalable and easy to manage."

Security focus

Axians UK said the service incorporates cybersecurity and sustainability considerations into network design from the outset. It describes this as a Secure by Design approach rather than adding controls later in the process.

The launch comes as many organisations review infrastructure plans while balancing cloud adoption, security demands and newer AI-related projects. In that environment, architecture work has become more closely tied to governance, cost control and operational resilience.

Dan Barton, Head of Consultancy, Axians UK, said: "With this service we are providing a clear path forward for businesses operating in a complicated digital landscape. By ensuring the correct architectural approach right from the start, we ensure that as businesses operate and consume in increasingly open domains, they do so with a posture that is inherently secure. We enable you to move forward with confidence."

Axians says the financial case for the service rests on reducing technical debt and removing duplicated tools and unnecessary complexity. It says that could lower operating costs over time while making infrastructure easier to manage.

The launch also reflects growing pressure on businesses to modernise without adding large permanent teams. A service-based model gives them access to specialist architecture input as cloud migration, cybersecurity and AI adoption reshape technology estates.

Axians is the ICT brand of VINCI Energies and operates across business applications, data analytics, enterprise networks, digital workspaces, data centres, cloud services, telecommunications infrastructure and cybersecurity. The group says its ICT activities generate €3.8 billion in revenue and employ 16,000 people across 36 countries.
