BC Technologies has credited support from Sales Geek Scotland with helping drive a rise in revenue. The Dunoon-based IT services company increased turnover from £3 million to £3.75 million last year.

It is now approaching £5 million in turnover as it seeks further expansion across Scotland and other markets. Work with Sales Geek Scotland focused on sales processes, staff development and new internal systems.

The relationship began after an introduction through Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce, followed by discovery sessions. Peter Barclay later took on the role of fractional sales director at BC Technologies.

A central part of the work involved coaching team members into more strategic sales roles. Those staff are now generating new business opportunities consistently.

Management also introduced a new customer relationship management system and other tools to improve the flow of operational data. The changes have helped the business understand customer requirements more clearly and identify sales opportunities.

Rachel Wallace of BC Technologies said the partnership had changed the company's approach to sales.

"Working with Sales Geek has made a significant difference to how we approach sales. Peter has helped us put structure and clarity around our processes while also developing our people. The progress made by our lead salesperson is a great example of what can be achieved with the right coaching and support, and this individual is now a key part of our growth plans," said Wallace.

Growth plans

Beyond the recent revenue rise, BC Technologies is pursuing a broader expansion strategy. This includes increasing its presence in Scotland's Central Belt and the north of the country, while continuing to invest in apprenticeships and internal development programmes.

The company also plans to strengthen its position in cyber security and compliance. Part of that effort will involve seeking further accreditations and exploring work in the defence sector.

Sales Geek Scotland described BC Technologies as a business with technical depth and a clear growth plan. Barclay said the focus had been on putting more formal sales leadership and structure in place.

"BC Technologies is a fantastic example of a business with deep technical expertise, strong values and huge growth potential. Our role has been to help unlock that potential by putting the right sales structure, processes and leadership in place. The team has embraced the changes, and the results speak for themselves. This is a business with real momentum and a clear vision for the future," said Peter Barclay, co-director of Sales Geek Scotland.

BC Technologies was founded in 1994 and provides IT support, systems and cyber security services to clients across the UK.

For Sales Geek Scotland, the project also illustrates demand for outsourced or fractional sales leadership among small and mid-sized companies looking to build a more structured route to growth without immediately hiring a full-time senior executive.

Barclay said the company's ambitions had made it a strong fit for that model.

"This is exactly the kind of business we love working with: ambitious, values-driven and committed to doing things the right way. We're proud to be part of its journey," said Barclay.
