Blackdot adds Opoint news data to Videris platform

Blackdot Solutions has integrated Opoint's news intelligence into its Videris platform, giving investigators access to structured news and adverse media data from 250,000 sources.
The dataset produces 3.5 million articles a day and is now available to Videris users. Blackdot said the addition is intended to support adverse media screening, due diligence and broader risk analysis across investigations.
Videris is used by financial intelligence units, law enforcement bodies, financial services compliance teams and corporate risk professionals. The platform is designed for open-source intelligence work, including entity mapping, risk analysis and structured reporting with audit trails.
By adding Opoint's global news feed, Blackdot is expanding the range of material available within those workflows. The integration brings in global, regional and local reporting, including sources that may not appear through larger international outlets.
Investigation use
The move is aimed at economic crime and compliance investigations. Blackdot said the integration supports use cases including anti-money laundering checks, counter-terrorism financing investigations, enhanced due diligence and adverse media screening.
Opoint provides structured news feeds to compliance platforms, financial institutions, risk teams and media intelligence companies. It says it indexes content in 135 languages and delivers data in structured JSON through an API, with added identifiers, topic classification and deduplication.
That structure matters for organisations trying to link media reporting to individuals and entities under review. In many compliance and investigative settings, adverse media checks sit alongside sanctions screening, transaction monitoring and corporate due diligence, as teams seek more precise ways to assess risk across jurisdictions.
Toby Cook, Chief Strategy Officer at Opoint, said: "Our partnership with Blackdot brings Opoint's global news intelligence directly into investigative workflows within the Videris platform. With coverage spanning news sources worldwide, our dataset helps investigators access information and context that may not be visible through traditional news sources alone. Blackdot users can now build an even more complete picture of individuals and organisations, supporting more informed risk assessments and due diligence processes."
Broader context
Open-source intelligence tools are being used more widely by public sector investigators and private sector compliance teams as they handle larger data volumes and more complex cross-border enquiries. News monitoring is part of that mix because local reporting can provide early signals of legal disputes, allegations, regulatory action or links between entities that are not always captured in formal records.
Blackdot's software is used across government, law enforcement, financial institutions and large companies. The company says its tools support investigations into financial crime, fraud, sanctions, serious and organised crime, as well as due diligence reviews.
The Videris platform also includes products such as Videris Automate and the Videris Investigative Assistant, which Blackdot says use AI and large language models in analysis workflows. In this case, the latest addition focuses on bringing an external news dataset into the existing platform rather than launching a separate product.
The partnership also reflects demand among compliance teams for more integrated systems, where investigators can search, assess and document findings in one environment. Bringing structured media data into the same platform can reduce the need to move between standalone search tools, external databases and internal case management systems.
Stuart Clarke, Chief Executive Officer at Blackdot Solutions, said: "The OSINT landscape is increasingly complex, and investigators need access to structured, authoritative data sources to work effectively. Integrating Opoint's global news intelligence into Videris strengthens our platform's capability to deliver investigative depth and entity context. This partnership reflects our commitment to helping customers across both the public and private sectors access the information they need to work more efficiently in economic crime and compliance investigations."
