Veritas & Google launch new data protection on cloud marketplace

Mon, 29th Jul 2024

Google and Veritas Technologies have announced the availability of Veritas Alta Data Protection solution on the Google Cloud Marketplace. This partnership marks the culmination of six years of collaboration between Veritas and Google, aiming to provide enhanced data management capabilities for enterprises through Google's cloud infrastructure.

Veritas Technologies, headquartered in Reading, UK, and known for its secure multi-cloud data management, will now offer a paid listing on the Google Cloud Marketplace. This step facilitates enterprises in leveraging Veritas's advanced data protection, storage, and recovery solutions through Google's cloud services.

Veritas Alta Data Protection is designed to reduce cloud computing costs by up to 40% and cloud snapshot storage costs by as much as 90%. It employs Cloud Scale Technology to offer a self-managed solution that efficiently secures and protects mission-critical data in the cloud. In terms of data recovery, the solution allows for the quick restoration of individual files, minimising business downtime.

According to the company, this update will bring several key features, enabling enterprises to:

  • Write data from backup to on-premises to Google
  • Seamlessly copy applications to and from Google
  • Run applications, including PaaS workloads, Cloud SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Google Cloud Storage, on the Google Cloud Engine
  • Leverage Veritas technologies to back up customer data to any Google Cloud Storage type
  • Purchase solutions through Cloud Marketplace

Oliver Norman, Regional Vice President for UK & Ireland at Veritas Technologies, commented on the new development: "Data recovery can be complex and time-consuming. Veritas Alta Data Protection uses AI-powered technology to automate and streamline the process, providing complete data protection across any cloud environment at any scale. This latest collaboration will enable organisations to access the capabilities of Veritas via Google Cloud Marketplace, enhancing data visibility whilst optimising and streamlining cost."

Norman emphasised that the partnership will empower enterprises by providing them with improved tools and services to securely store, manage, and protect their data in the cloud.

Earlier this year, Veritas announced its position as a Top Player in the 2024 Information Archiving Market Quadrant from analyst firm The Radicati Group. This is the sixth time The Radicati Group has placed Veritas among the market leaders in the information archiving sector.

Sara Radicati, president and CEO at The Radicati Group, said: "Top Players shape the market with their technology and strategic vision. Vendors don't become Top Players overnight. Veritas' positioning as a Top Player reflects the breadth of its portfolio and depth of functionality, as well as the company's vision for the future."

Veritas has more than 80,000 customers that leverage solutions to help ensure the protection, recoverability and compliance of their data. Powered by Cloud Scale Technology, Veritas states it is delivering on its strategy for Autonomous Data Management that reduces operational overhead while delivering greater value.
