Siemens Gamesa equips Hull factory with Secure I.T. Environments' data centre
Secure I.T. Environments (SITE), a design and build firm for modular, containerised, and micro data centres based in the UK, has successfully equipped Siemens Gamesa's renewable energy manufacturing facility in Hull with one of its key ModCel containerised data centres.
Siemens Gamesa, a known brand in wind-powered renewable energy, has recently seen the new ModCel design go live in its manufacturing site.
This new 3.6m cubic ModCel data centre will provide essential support to the site's production systems and communications channels. The site is infamous for manufacturing top-of-the-line wind turbines amongst other innovative products.
Specifically designed to endure the environmental conditions of a dock-based manufacturing facility, the ModCel also features security measures ensuring the protection of equipment and services, in line with the LPS1175 standards.
Inside, this state-of-the-art data centre houses two 48U 1200mm deep cabinets, complete with all the power, cooling, and safety fixtures expected of a typical data centre build. Four PDUs are managing power distribution, with a rackmount UPS system in each cabinet.
The centre will receive supplementary back-up power from an existing generator on the site. Cooling is offered through four externally mounted downflow AirSys Unicool AHU units, providing N+1 cooling, distributed to cabinets via raised flooring. In addition, the centre features LED PIR lighting, fire suppression systems and has a fire rating of one hour.
Projects Director at Secure I.T. Environments, Chris Wellfair, discussed the company's new offering. He stated: "Our ModCel data centre designs are raising the bar on what customers can expect from a containerised data centre facility."
"Whether a unit to provide redundancy, meet temporary needs, work in harsh environments or support mission critical applications, a Secure I.T. Environments ModCel data centre can meet any challenge."
The collaboration with Siemens Gamesa marks another significant step for SITE in offering a total solutions package to various sectors including the private, healthcare, education, and government sectors, as well as co-hosting companies in the UK and offshore.
They provide design, implementation, and installation management services for projects ranging from small stand-alone computer rooms to expansive public sector contracts and co-hosting sites.
As a company, Secure I.T. Environments' primary objective is to ensure the protection of its clients' critical infrastructure components from all external threats within suitably protected modular rooms or ModCel containerised environments.
As such, the company states, establishing enduring partnerships with its manufacturers, who lead the way in R&D, forms part of their mission to maintain the highest level of physical protection and energy efficiency.
