Chameleon appoints Tim Cox as CTO to drive platform growth
Chameleon Technology has appointed Tim Cox as Chief Technology Officer, adding a senior technology executive from Sycurio to its leadership team.
Cox previously served as Chief Product and Technology Officer and Vice-President of customer delivery at Sycurio, where he oversaw global technology strategy, product development and customer-facing operations.
At Chameleon Technology, he will lead the next stage of the company's technology roadmap, including development of the group's platform and support for its growth plans.
He brings experience across software-as-a-service, cybersecurity, telecommunications and cloud transformation. His career has included building and launching infrastructure and software products, as well as leading cloud migration and broader transformation programmes.
Chameleon Technology is best known for smart energy devices and related software services. More than 20 million people in over a third of homes in Great Britain have access to one of its in-home displays, which are used to track energy use and spending.
The company also provides data services and software tools built around energy and environmental information gathered from homes. These include its Control Centre platform for businesses and the ivie app for households.
The appointment highlights Chameleon's focus on product and technology leadership as it expands its software and platform operations alongside its device business. It also adds a senior executive with direct experience of leading both product and delivery functions.
In a statement, Cox outlined his priorities in the new role.
"Joining Chameleon Technology at this stage presents a significant opportunity to help shape the company's next phase of growth. The priority now is to accelerate the technology strategy, scale platforms and enhance the product offering to meet increasing customer demand. With a clear focus on secure, cloud-native innovation, the foundations are in place to drive meaningful long-term value," said Tim Cox, Chief Technology Officer at Chameleon Technology.
Executive chair Carmen Carey said the appointment would strengthen the senior team as the company develops its mix of hardware, software and data services.
"Tim brings an exceptional blend of technical expertise, commercial acumen and leadership experience to Chameleon, along with a proven ability to deliver high-impact technology programs. His appointment strengthens our leadership team and positions us perfectly to continue scaling our technology capabilities and propositions to provide high value end-to-end solutions, incorporating our market leading smart devices with innovative software solutions, delivering even greater value to our customers," Carey said.
Founded in 2010, the Harrogate-based company also operates in France and Hong Kong. Its business centres on products that help households and organisations monitor and interpret energy use, combining connected devices with software analysis and data services.
Cox's appointment comes as technology companies serving utilities and energy users face growing demand for software that can process large volumes of household and operational data. For businesses such as Chameleon, senior product and technology leadership is likely to play a larger role as energy management tools become more closely tied to cloud services and customer-facing applications.
His arrival gives Chameleon a senior executive to oversee that work across its platform and roadmap.
