Wipro launches STO360 with Aramco & SAP for outages

Wipro has launched Wipro STO360 with Aramco and SAP, targeting shutdown, turnaround and outage management in asset-intensive industries.

Built on SAP Business Technology Platform, the software is designed to modernise plant turnaround processes from inspection planning to maintenance work. It provides real-time visibility across activities and supports coordination between teams during planned industrial shutdowns.

Shutdowns, turnarounds and outages are major maintenance events in sectors such as oil and gas, chemicals, mining, manufacturing and utilities. They often involve large workforces, strict safety and compliance requirements, and narrow operating windows that can make delays costly.

Wipro is positioning the software as a replacement for fragmented legacy workflows that often rely on separate systems for inspections, planning and execution. The platform brings those tasks together in a single system and is intended to reduce unplanned downtime and improve maintenance productivity.

Aramco played a direct role in developing the product, which Wipro described as a combination of its engineering work, Aramco's operational input and SAP's software architecture. The collaboration also reflects Wipro's long-standing relationship with the Saudi energy group, spanning IT, engineering and digital transformation work over more than two decades.

The launch gives Wipro a more defined software offering in industrial operations at a time when service providers are trying to turn sector knowledge into repeatable products. For companies running refineries, processing plants and other heavy industrial assets, software tied to maintenance cycles has become a key area for digitisation as operators seek tighter control over cost, risk and compliance.

Wipro STO360 has also been designated an SAP Endorsed App and is available through SAP's marketplace. That status can help software partners reach SAP customers looking for tools that work with existing enterprise systems.

Vinay Firake, Chief Executive Officer of APMEA at Wipro, said industrial operators are under growing pressure to adopt new digital tools as assets become harder to manage and regulatory demands rise.

Aramco plans to use the software in its own operations, describing the deployment as part of a broader effort to improve turnaround and inspection planning and execution.

Partner role

SAP also tied the launch to its wider partner strategy, which relies on outside developers building industry tools on top of its platform. For SAP, applications aimed at specific operational problems can strengthen the appeal of its broader enterprise software stack in sectors where specialised workflows matter.
